Burden These are the instructions.
1. Please choose a seat at the table and have a seat. 2. Wet one sheet of rice paper and place it on the plate in front of you. Choose your preferred writing implement and using the chili paste, write your deepest burden. Please. Don’t be shy. 3. Fold. Please be tidy. 4. I am here. I am blindfolded for your privacy. Feed it to me. 5. Take my weight, preferably off the floor. Perhaps someone will share it with you. Perhaps not. 6. I encourage you to hold on until it is absolutely unbearable. 7. At this point you can do one of two things. Pass me on to someone else with a burden to share. Or simply drop me. You may not have a choice. However it comes, do it quickly. Turn away and leave the room. Do not look back. Do not think about me later. |

Tiny Egg Sculpture ExchangeAs part of my residency at Compeung Village, I set up an exchange table at the local market exchanging tiny edible sculptures made of quails eggs, fresh veggies and tiny fish. All the ingredients were purchased on site. The passers by were invited to choose a one of kind piece in exchange for a gift that was not monetary. I received bags of vegetables, fruits, sweets among many other treats that were later donated to a nearby orphanage. |
